Issues in Post-Divorce Housing explores the growing interaction between a rising divorce-led demand for housing and major changes in the structure of housing supply which have created significant reductions in housing supply, particularly in the public sector, in Britain over the last ten years. The authors draw upon a wealth of empirical and descriptive data to document the housing moves of couples following divorce. As well as describing the personal and family consequences of housing changes following divorce, the authors also deal with the demands which relationship breakdown places on a housing system already in crisis. The book concludes with a discussion of the challenge which relationship breakdown presents for housing and social policy-makers and offers suggestions as to how policies of the future might work to reduce rather than reinforce housing inequality following divorce.
