In this book the author explains the concept of legal competence (or power). Having shown that we do need a concept of competence in order to be able in an adequate way to analyse and discuss questions concerning the (in)validity of legal norms deeds wills etc. the author proceeds to make this concept as suited to its purpose as possible. This includes a discussion of the analysis and definition of legal concepts in general and the concept of competence in particular the relation between the concept of competence and (in)validity what it means to have and to exercise competence different types of competence and the relation between the concepts of competence and right and the nature of those norms that confer competence on a person.
