This is the fourth and final selection of articles by Marie Th?r?se d'Alverny to be published by Variorum. It contains studies on the late 12th-century theologian Alain de Lille and on other writings including a vernacular heretical version of the Lord's Prayer an academic sermon on the prophecies surrounding Christ's birth and a text on the symbolic significance of the various parts of a church and its furniture. D'Alverny explores theologians' attitudes to Islam and Arabic learning and to women. Bernard Itier (d.1225) the librarian of the French monastery St Martial de Limoges and the practice of magic in the same monastery are the subject of three further articles. Most of the pieces include editions of previously unedited texts. The first article discusses editing medieval texts in general the last gives an example of what a Medieval scribe did with texts.
