The Handbook of Library Training Practice: Volume 2 is a companion volume to the first published in 1986. The second version of the handbook is a continuation of the earlier volume not a replacement. The majority of the chapters cover topics which have recently come to the fore such as training for marketing and customer care assertiveness training and staff appraisal. A few topics are repeated in Volume 2 but only where a fresh angle is needed or recent initiatives make a revision desirable. For example training for library work in a multicultural society is a special aspect of training for community librarianship. Many chapters of the original volume remain valid and need no amendment.
