This book examines the theories underlying federal constitutions in the US Canada and Australia concentrating on constitution formation models of representation and procedures for amending federal constitutions. The connections between federal design and constitutional interpretation are explored and the analysis is applied to the current emphasis on the founders of the American Republic the issue of secession in Canada and the debate on Australian republicanism.
