This book presents the highlights from the collection of ancient Greek gold jewellery (dating from the seventh to first centuries BC) in the collection of the State Hermitage Museum, St Petersburg. The jewellery was associated with the elaborate funerary rites of settlements on the north coast of the Black Sea, and was discovered in burial mounds in the early nineteenth century. Exceptionally well preserved, these exquisite pieces of Greek gold, from fragile olive wreaths to beautiful ear pendants, are reproduced here in full-colour.
