This is a study of how Education Support Grant projects are being implemented. ESGs are concerned with curriculum development and as such this research centres on two projects ? the theory, policy and practice of MCE (multicultural education) and ARE (anti-racist education) in all-white schools. It is suggested that the latter is much more difficult for teachers and pupils alike, especially in all-white schools which tend to think that such issues are irrelevant to them. The conclusions are not wholly positive though suggestions are made for future developments.
