This is a socio legal study on the Irish Unfair Dismissals Act 1977. This dissertation has two objectives. Firstly, to establish the extent, if any, the 1977 Unfair Dismissals Act has curtailed or enhanced employer control in the employment relationship. Secondly, to establish the impact this legislation has had on the employment relationship and various actors in the workplace.
