Taking advantage of the increasingly favourable conditions which Gorbachev started to introduce during 1987 to liberalize the Soviet society, the authors were able to conduct an empirically structured survey which corresponded to normal standards of sociological research on working conditions and career perspectives for top managers in Russia. The evaluation of this study was extrapolated in Russia itself and corrected through work carried out in Russia between 1922 and 1994.
