Using the views of consumers of bereavement services to discover what their opinions are as to the effectiveness of the bereavement counselling service. 60 widowed people were interviewed soon after bereavement counselling ended. 30 were from a hospice (14 men and 16 women) and 30 from Cruse (8 men and 22 women). Their counsellors (32), all of whom received the same training, were then interviewed.
