This book outlines an approach to planning for local needs. It describes the work of an innovative three-year research project to develop the Tayside Profile for Dementia Planning, an instrument used to assess the needs of people with dementia. Most assessments of need are concerned with individuals, the Tayside Profile provides information about problems and services which can be used as a guide to planning for a population. The profile can be used by planners to identify needs for particular services, to identify needs which are unmet and to see what effect different patterns of service will have.
