This book centres on a study, believed to be the first of its kind in Britain, researching how nurses working in Scottish hospitals for the care of the elderly perceived spiritual need and care and how they professed to have given this care in practice. Through questionnaires and statistical analysis the author identified factors influencing spiritual care, the identification of spiritual need and responses to this need. This is an important and under-researched area of patient care.
