Based on a reflective assessment of the status of the field, this book suggests the future agenda for peace research. Conceptual problems are linked to specific policy issues such as disarmament, peacekeeping, conflict resolution, preventative diplomacy, non-violent social change, development and environmental security. These issues are highlighted by globalisation, identity formation, basic needs, regional developmentalism and civil society which characterize the structural transition of global politics towards the 21st century.
