The essays in this volume seek to explore and explain the origins, nature and consequences of modern Irish terrorism. Political violence in Ireland has long been an unsettling force in Irish and British life and shows few signs of abating. This book seeks to examine the evolving character of Irish terrorism from the perspective of a variety of academic disciplines, including sociology, political science, geography, psychology, media studies and history, while contributors are drawn from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Britain, Australia and the United States.
