This book addresses the developed potential of industry in Hungary Poland the Czech Republic the Ukraine Bulgaria and Lithuania by analyzing current dynamics of industrial change. It analyzes driving forces in industrial change based on empirical research in a project in which 25 studies have been produced mostly about specific industries. In order to identify strategic issues for each country three industries as units of analysis have been chosen. The focus has been on the quest for industrial innovation: analysis concentrated on the impact of change of ownership on production the new institutional framework and governance structures old and new markets marketing methods human resource management product and process innovation the role of research and development the impact of liberalizing foreign trade and various forms of international industrial cooperation.
