The book focuses on the dilemmas of citizenship and identity in the uncertain atmosphere of Europe in the 1990s. The various chapters analyze citizenship and identity from a number of perspectives, including those of citizens themselves in both Eastern and Western Europe, of national governments, of the EC/EU, and of academic analysis.
